Spices
Do the spices expire?
Until the spices completely rot or rot, they gradually lose their taste. Since spices are usually only added to enhance the taste, it is best to use them for a period of time.
If grinding your own spices isn't an option, try using the freshest spices you can. If stored properly, ground spices can usually be kept for up to three years and whole dried herbs for four years.
Nutritional value
Spices are used in small amounts to flavor dishes, which means they add few calories to the dish. This doesn't mean that spices don't have a big impact on your diet.
They can be a great way to add the necessary vitamins and minerals.
How to properly store spices
Spices will last longer if stored in a cool, dry place. So if you keep the spice jars by the stove, their lifespan will be significantly reduced.
A covered spice rack or storage in an opaque container will help your spices retain their flavor longer.
History of Spices
Since most of the world's spices originate from Southeast Asia, the spice trade contributed to the revitalization of the global economy of the Middle Ages.
The Silk Road was a dangerous and long trade route from China to Europe. Sailing speeds up the supply of spices. In search of quicker roots to India, Christopher Columbus decided to sail east and land in North America instead.
It is believed that this continent's shortcomings were the reason why indigenous peoples were mistakenly called "Indians".
